Lee, Dunn named OUA Athletes of the Week, presented by Investors Group

BURLINGTON, Ont. - The following athletes have been named Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Athletes of the Week, presented by Investors Group, for the period ending August 29th, 2016.

MALE: Luka Lee (Toronto, Ont.) – 5th yr – Ryerson Rams – Soccer

Fifth-year veteran Luka Lee (Toronto) made the most of his final season opener in a Ryerson Rams uniform.

Lee, an arts & contemporary studies student-athlete, has been named the OUA Male Athlete of the Week, presented by Investors Group, after he scored two goals in two games to help the Rams open the season with a perfect 2-0 record.

On Friday against Laurentian, Lee found the back of the net in the 21st minute and that was all the Rams would need as they slipped past the Voyageurs 1-0.  Lee recorded a game high three shots on goal.

The 5’11” forward followed that up on Sunday with another goal in the 10th minute to give Ryerson an early 2-0 lead.  The Rams wouldn’t look back from there as they cruised to a 4-0 victory versus Nipissing.

Lee and the Rams are back in action on Saturday when they host the visiting UOIT Ridgebacks at Monarch Park.

FEMALE: Findley Dunn (Toronto, Ont.) – 1st yr. – Waterloo Warriors – Soccer

It was a memorable debut for Waterloo Warriors rookie goaltender Findley Dunn (Toronto) who has been named the OUA Female Athlete of the Week, presented by Investors Group.

Dunn, a first-year knowledge integration major, turned aside 10 of 11 shots she faced in a 1-1 draw with the crosstown rival Laurier Golden Hawks.

Despite the pressure of the “Battle of Waterloo,” the 5’3” keeper stood tall, making several outstanding saves including a highlight reel save in the opening half to send the Warriors into halftime up 1-0.

Despite playing in just one game on the opening weekend, the Toronto, Ont. native finds herself in the top five in saves (10) and save percentage (.909).

Dunn and the Warriors return to the pitch on Saturday when they travel to St. Catharines, Ont. to take on the Brock Badgers.
