BURLINGTON, Ont. – Kylie Masse has been named Investors Group Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Female Athlete of the Week, powered by 2XU, for the period ending February 13, 2018.
Female Athlete of the Week – Kylie Masse (LaSalle, Ont.) – 4th Year – Toronto Varsity Blues
She’s done it before and she’s done it again. Toronto Varsity Blues swimming standout Kylie Masse was her usual dominant self at the 2018 OUA Swimming Championship, and as a result, has earned this week’s Female Athlete of the Week nod.
The 2017 world champion and 100 meter backstroke world record holder earned her fourth straight OUA Female Swimmer of the Year honour in leading the Varsity Blues to their fifth consecutive provincial title this past weekend in London, Ont.
Masse, a 2016 Olympics bronze medalist, won four individual and two relay gold medals, while breaking five OUA records in the process. Masse won the 50-metre and 100-metre backstroke events, earning OUA Grand Slam awards for both, while bettering her own OUA record in the 50-metre race.
The LaSalle, Ont., native and kinesiology major also won the 50-metre freestyle and 100-metre butterfly races, setting new OUA records in both, and helped the Blues to OUA record-breaking performances in the 200-metre freestyle and 200-metre medley relays.
