Burlington, Ont. – Kassidy Nauboris has been named IG Wealth Management Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Female Athlete of the Week, powered by Planters, for the period ending February 3, 2019.
Female Athlete of the Week – Kassidy Nauboris (Brampton, Ont.) – 5th Year – UOIT Ridgebacks
UOIT Ridgebacks’ Kassidy Nauboris added to her storied university career this past weekend, carrying her women’s hockey team to a pair of important wins as the regular season continues to wind down.
In the Ridgebacks’ game on Thursday, one in which the team exploded for six goals against the Laurier Golden Hawks, Nauboris put her fingerprints all over the score sheet. The fifth-year forward racked up four points (1G, 3A) in the win, notching her 13th goal of the season halfway through the first period en route to the 6-1 victory.
The following night, Nauboris was at it again, this time picking up a pair of assists and a tally in her team’s 4-1 win over the Waterloo Warriors. Her third-period marker provided the Ridgebacks with a bit of insurance against the black and gold, but it was actually her pristine passing that stole the headlines after the game, as one of the all-time UOIT greats became the school’s single-season assist leader (16).
Nauboris’ seven-point weekend buoyed the Oshawa squad to a pair of important wins – just the third time this season they’ve won three straight games – while also carrying her to the top of the conference’s assist leaders and second in goals (14) across the OUA.
