Varsity Blues Kinney named OUA Peak Performer (Feb. 6)

BURLINGTON, Ont. – William Kinney has been named Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Peak Performer of the Week, presented by Investors Group, for the period ending February 6, 2018.

William Kinney – 4th Year Toronto Varsity Blues Fencing

Toronto's William Kinney reclaimed the Schwende-Tully Trophy as the OUA’s men’s sabre champion for a third time, after hoisting it in 2015 and 2016. Kinney squared off against Carleton's Matheson Go for the title this weekend at RMC, where the veteran Varsity Blue proved victorious.

Not only did Kinney earn his third Schwnende-Tully Trophy in four years, the men’s sabre individual champion was also part of the Blues squad that finished first in the men’s sabre team relay, and was a critical component in helping Toronto capture their third consecutive OUA men’s fencing banner.

To round out his impressive championship efforts, the fourth year fencer was also named an OUA All-Star.
