    OTTAWA, Ont. ? A quartet of Gryphon football players were part of the victorious Team West at the 2019 U SPORTS East-West Bowl. The annual all-star game, which features the top prospects in Canadian university football who are eligible for the 2020 CFL Draft, took place on Saturday, May 11 at Carleton's MNP Park stadium. Team West, which featured four Gryphons in receiver Kian Schaffer-Baker, defensive back Dotun Aketepe, defensive end Carter Wilson and offensive lineman Coulter Woodmansey, won 35-17 over Team East. Saturday's game marked the 17th edition of the event, which began in 2003.

    TORONTO, Ont. ? Since arriving on campus at the University of Guelph two years ago, Gryphons women's basketball guard Burke Bechard has continually made strides to establish herself as one of the top women's basketball players in the province. This past weekend (Saturday, May 3) Bechard took yet another step towards solidifying her name among the very best in OUA women's basketball. On Saturday, May 3 at the Tait Mackenzie Centre at York University, Burke Bechard was named MVP in the OUA Women's Basketball All-Star Showcase, presented by Peel Regional Police. A total of 20 players representing 14 different schools suited up for the 12th edition of the annual all-star festivities. McMaster head coach Theresa Burns, who led the Marauders to their first national title in school history in 2018-19, served as head coach of Team Burns. While Michèle Bélanger, a 40-year veteran head coach for the Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball program, served as head coach of Team Bélanger.

    OTTAWA, Ont. ? Four Gryphons will head to Ottawa to showcase their skills in front of CFL scout at the 17th edition of the East-West Bowl. The annual prospects game features 86 players from across the country who are eligible for the 2020 CFL Draft. Gryphon receiver Kian Schaffer-Baker, free safety Dotun Aketepe, defensive end Carter Wilson and offensive linemen Coulter Woodmansey will all be representing the University of Guelph on Team West, while showcasing their skills in front of pro scouts and competing alongside some of the very best players in Canadian university football. The week-long festivities culminate with the playing of the 17th East-West Bowl Game, which is set to kick off on Saturday, May 11 at 12:30pm. The host stadium for the week will be MNP Park in Ottawa, home of the Carleton Ravens, who are hosting the event for the first time. The game will feature a sideline rematch of the last two Vanier Cup games, as Glen Constantin of Laval and Greg Marshall of Western will be behind the two benches.
