HAMILTON, Ont. - The McMaster Department of Athletics and Recreation is very pleased to announce that it has reached a new multi-year agreement with Stefan Ptaszek to serve as Head Coach of the McMaster Football team.
Director of Athletics and Recreation Glen Grunwald says this agreement guarantees the future success of the Marauder program. "Aside from his obvious success on the field, Coach Ptaszek has proven himself a tremendous leader of the young men who have brought great pride to our university and the community," said Grunwald.
"Our values of commitment, integrity, responsibility, innovation, and leadership are personified by Coach P," added Grunwald. "It has been a pleasure to work with him in my time here and I look forward to many more successful seasons."
Since taking over the McMaster program in 2006, Coach Ptaszek has built a national contender. His teams have made the playoffs every year of his decade on the sideline. He has guided the Marauders to three Yates Cup (OUA) Championships in 2011, 2012, and 2014 and three appearances in the Vanier Cup, bringing McMaster its first-ever National Football Championship in 2011. Twice (2012, 2014) named the OUA Coach of the Year, Ptaszek was also recognized as the CIS Coach of the Year in 2012.
"The privilege of being in that locker room and working with that group of coaches and those student-athletes is very exciting," said Ptaszek. "To uphold the championship standard at McMaster, both on and off the field, is something I don't enter into lightly, but I look forward to pushing that standard and growing our reputation both on this campus and in our community."
Coach Ptaszek will lead his 7th-ranked Marauder squad against the York Lions on Saturday, September 26 as McMaster celebrates its 79th Homecoming. The game at Ron Joyce Stadium has kick-off scheduled for 1-PM and is SOLD OUT.
