60 Word Blitz - A quick look at Week 5's games

Laurier Golden Hawks v. McMaster Marauders
Ron Joyce Stadium
September 22 @ 1:00pm

It came down to the wire last weekend, but the Golden Hawks took their first loss of the season despite stellar performances from the team’s passing and rushing leaders, Tristan Arndt and Levondre Gordon. This Saturday, they take on the Marauders, who put up a dominant performance last week, on the back of Tommy Nield’s historic receiving effort.

York Lions v. Ottawa Gee-Gees
Gee-Gees Field
September 22 @1:00pm

Ottawa sat back and watched last weekend, but the Gee-Gees are back in action to take on the York Lions. Bryce Vieira looks continue his strong season, leading Ottawa in receiving yards, while senior Lion Colton Hunchak hopes to climb the league’s receiving leaderboard himself. He currently sits 5th in the league in both receiving yards per game and touchdowns.

Carleton Ravens v. Toronto Varsity Blues
Varsity Stadium
September 22 @ 1:00pm

It took double OT, but the Carleton Ravens came out victorious last weekend and their sights are set on another one against the Blues. Led by their strong defence, the Ravens will aim to stifle junior QB Clay Sequeira and the Blues’ offence, which struggled a week ago. They’ll hope to rebound with big performances from Sequeira and Daniel Diodati.

Western Mustangs v. Waterloo Warriors
Warrior Field
September 22 @1:00pm

The Warriors took another huge step in their program’s continued development with their last minute heroics in the Battle of Waterloo, but another stiff test lies on the horizon. Tre Ford will lead the black and gold into a matchup against the reigning champion Western Mustangs, who will gallop in with the conference’s leading rusher, Cedric Joseph.

Queen's Gaels v. Guelph Gryphons
Alumni Stadium
September 22 @1:00pm

The Gaels had a nail-biter last Saturday and came up just short. This weekend, they’ll rely on QB Nate Hobbs, now 4th all-time in Queen’s history for TDs, to put in another top performance against the Gryphons. Guelph will turn to defensive star Luke Korol, the OUA’s leader in tackles per game, to shut Hobbs and the Gaels down.
