OFFENCE: Brentyn Hall (Toronto, Ont.) – 1st yr. – Laurier

Laurier Golden Hawks receiver Brentyn Hall (Toronto, Ont.) has been named OUA Offensive Player of the Week following a strong performance in the U Sports Uteck Bowl on Saturday.

Hall, a second-year business major, had five receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown in Laurier’s 36-6 loss to the No. 1 ranked Laval Rouge et Or.

With time winding down, Hall hauled in a 26 yard pass from Laurier quarterback Michael Knevel to spoil Laval’s shutout bid.

In his rookie season, the 6’2”, 210 lbs receiver appeared in all eight regular season games for the Golden Hawks and led the conference averaging 23.3 yards per catch.  He also finished inside the top 10 with 558 receiving yards.

DEFENCE: Godfrey Onyeka (Brampton, Ont.) – 3rd yr. – Laurier

Golden Hawks defensive back Godfrey Oneyka (Brampton, Ont.) has been recognized as the OUA Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending November 21.

Despite the outcome Saturday, it was another strong year for the Brampton, Ont. native after he finished second on the Golden Hawks with 40.5 tackles and four interceptions on his way to being named an OUA first-team all-star for a second straight season.

SPECIAL TEAMS: Godfrey Onyeka (Brampton, Ont.) – 3rd yr. – Laurier

Not only was Godfrey Oneyka (Brampton, Ont.) honoured for his defensive contributions but he has also been named the OUA Special Teams Player of the Week as well.
