TORONTO (U SPORTS) – Alex Poznikoff from the Alberta Pandas and Kaza Kajami-Keane of the Carleton Ravens are the ArcelorMittal Dofasco USPORTS female and male athletes of the week for the period ending January 22, 2017.

Poznikoff, a second-year physical education and recreation major from Edmonton, racked up eight points – four goals and four assists - in a weekend home-and-home sweep of Calgary. The Pandas forward recorded a goal and two assists in a 4-0 shutout of the Dinos Friday, before scoring a hat-trick and two helpers in 7-1 win Saturday. Poznikoff, who sits tied for fifth in the nation in both goals (13), and points (24), will be playing for U SPORTS Team Canada at the 2017 Winter Universiade in Almaty, Kazakhstan, which faces off against China in its first game on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. local time (5:30 a.m. ET).

Hockey players Karen Collins of the Laurentian Voyageurs and Sarah Bujold of the StFX X-Women, along with McGill Martlets volleyball player Claire Vercheval were also nominated for the women's award.
