OSHAWA, Ont. - Western's power play went 3 for 5 as the Mustangs closed out the 2008 portion of the regular season with a 6-1 win over the UOIT Ridgebacks at the Campus Ice Centre Dec. 4.

Aaron Snow (Windsor, Ont.) scored back-to-back goals in the third period to put the game on ice for Western. Yashar Farmanara (West Vancouver, B.C.), Patrick Ouellet (Baie-Comeau, Que.), Jason Swit (Mississauga, Ont.) and Geoff Killing (Embro, Ont.) added one goal each.

Sal Peralta (Leamington, Ont.) added three assists.

"It was a good way to finish off the first half of the season," said head coach Clarke Singer. "We scored three power play goals for and had a solid effort throughout."

Brad Topping (Strathroy, Ont.) made 27 saves for his fifth win of the season, with UOIT's Steve Spade (Rochester, N.Y.) scoring the only goal midway through the second period. Ridgebacks' goalie Nick Fontana (Whitby, Ont.) made 43 saves in his fourth start of the season.

With the win, Western moves into sole possession of fourth place in the highly competitive OUA Far West and a tie for fourth-place overall in the OUA West Conference with Brock. The Mustangs have a game in hand.
