TORONTO, June 29, 2017 - Slan Sports Management is pleased to announce that Danielle Boiago has signed her first professional contract with the FSG Royal Eagles in the Netherlands' Eredivisie and the Eastern European Women's Basketball League (EEWBL).
Boiago, who was named 2016-2017 U Sports All-Canadian Player of the Year, is coming off an outstanding fifth and final season with the McMaster University Marauders in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) conference of U Sports. The 5'7" guard ranked third in U Sports in scoring, fifth in assists, and fourth in steals, averaging 19.0 points, 4.2 assists and 3.3 steals per game. She also contributed 7.2 rebounds per game and shot 48.0% from the field. Boiago's efforts led the Marauders to the OUA Tournament semifinals for the third time during her tenure, and helped the Marauders capture their third consecutive OUA Central Division regular season championship. Boiago was also named All-OUA Defensive Player of the Year, and All-OUA Player of the Year. She was named to the U Sports All-Canadian First Team for the second consecutive season and to the All-OUA First Team for the third consecutive season.
A Hamilton, Ontario native, Boiago played high school basketball at St. Thomas More Catholic Secondary School, where she led her team to an Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations AAAA championship in her senior year. Throughout high school, Boiago also competed for Team Ontario in Canada Basketball's National Championships. At the 2009 15U Women's National Championship, Boiago led Ontario to a gold medal and was named Tournament MVP. She helped Ontario secure the gold medal once again at the 2011 U17 Women's National Championships.
Boiago began her collegiate career in 2012-2013 with the McMaster Marauders. In her first year, she averaged 15.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.3 steals per game and helped her team reach the OUA semifinals. She was named to the OUA West Division All-Rookie Team and the CIS Canadian All-Rookie Team. Boiago continued her strong performance into her second year, averaging 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game, while shooting 48.9% from the field. That season, she was named to the All-OUA West Division Second Team. In her third year, Boiago ranked fifth in the CIS in steals, averaging 3.1 steals per game, while also contributing 18.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. She was named to the All-OUA First Team and helped the Marauders secure an OUA Central Division Regular Season championship. In her fourth year with the Marauders, Boiago ranked fifth in the CIS in scoring, averaging 17.8 points per game, and also added 7.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.6 steals per game. Her contributions led her team to the OUA semifinals and helped the Marauders to secure another OUA Central Division regular season championship. She was named to the All-OUA First Team and the CIS All-Canadian First Team that season.
Boiago is excited and confident heading into her rookie season.

In 2016-2017, the FSG Royal Eagles finished sixth in the Dutch Eredivisie with an 8-18 record. The club will compete in the EEWBL for the first time this season.
