OUA PLAYOFF PUSH: M-RUBGY
The Queen's Gaels (6-0-1) put their undefeated season on the line against the Western Mustangs (5-2-1) in one OUA men's rugby semi-final. The Gaels were victorious over the Toronto Varsity Blues 70-3 in the quarter-finals, while Western blanked the Guelph Gryphons 45-0.
Scott Kyle (Singapore) scored three tries against the Varsity Blues, while Chris Barrett (Vancouver, B.C.) and Graeme Whyte (Whitby, Ont.) contributed a pair. Western's Joshua Campbell (Belleville, Ont.) scored four tries against the Gryphons.
In the other semi-final, the McMaster Marauders (7-1-0) host the Brock Badgers (5-2). The Marauders defeated the Waterloo Warriors 34-3 in quarter-final action, while the Badgers humbled the RMC Paladins 51-9. McMaster received two tries by Mike Scholz (Oakville, Ont.) while the Badgers were beneficiaries of a pair of tries each from Rory McDonell (Brantford, Ont.), Levon Kvas-Rothwell (St. Catharines, Ont.) and Mike Berry (Trenton, Ont.)
The winners of the semi-finals meet for the OUA Men's Rugby Championship presented by Rugby Canada and Gilbert Canada Inc., while the losing teams square off in a bronze medal game. Both games will be played at Fletcher's Field in Markham, Ont. on Nov. 8.
