OUA welcomes Geoff Johnson as new Chief Operating Officer
Burlington, Ont. – Ontario University Athletics (OUA) is pleased to welcome Geoff Johnson to the team as the new Chief Operating Officer.
“It is an honour to be joining the OUA team as the new chief operating officer,” said Johnson, who has held a variety of positions across amateur sport.
In his most recent stretch with Squash Canada, he has gone from programs manager to director of sport development to his most recent role as chief operating officer, wherein he oversees areas such as governance, events, communications, program and policy development, and more.
“I am confident that my years of expertise in the provincial and national amateur sport system along with my dedication and love for sport will have a positive impact on university athletics in Ontario.”
That love for sport was also seen in his previous time spent with the Ontario Senior Games Association. Therein, Johnson held the most senior staff role as programs manager, helping to facilitate development in several key areas as well.
Johnson, whose educational background includes a sport administration diploma and sport business management graduate certificate from Durham College, also serves on the Guelph Sports Council board of directors and has held previous board roles with the Grimsby Curling Club over the years.
Said OUA President & CEO Gord Grace, “With a background as an administrator, coach, and athlete, we are excited about the leadership and understanding of the amateur sport system that Geoff will bring to the OUA. His work overseeing development across several key portfolios will also be a key asset for the team moving forward.”
Johnson will begin his new role with the OUA on November 18th.
