OUA announces field hockey schedule for 2021 season
Burlington, Ont. - Ontario University Athletics (OUA) is pleased to announce the 2021 regular season field hockey schedule, set to commence on September 24.

It will be a tough first test for the incoming McMaster Marauders, as they will make their debut in OUA league play with a pair of games against the reigning champion Guelph Gryphons on opening weekend (September 24 to 26). Their fellow divisional foes will also face off during that time, as the Waterloo Warriors and Western Mustangs team up for two.
As the season progresses, the West Division will see the Gryphons and Warriors, as well as the Marauders and Mustangs, meet up on four occasions throughout the five-week slate, in alignment with the OUA's health and safety protocols for the return to competition.
While the newly-formed West Division features the most recent victors, it is the 2019 runners-up that help headline the East Division, as the Toronto Varsity Blues combine with the McGill Martlets, Queen's Gaels, and York Lions.
This makeup means that fans will be treated to a quartet of all-GTA matchups this season, with the first set taking place on October 6 and 8, respectively. The two Toronto-based teams will also collide for a 2018 championship rematch when they close out their respective campaigns with another pair of games on October 20 and 23.
McGill will be tasked with taming the powerhouse Toronto team to start the season, as they prepare for a game each on September 25 and 26, while the Gaels will round out the return to field hockey with two games against the Lions.
McGill and Queen's will then connect for four head-to-head meetings later in the season, with the final two helping to wrap up the regular season during the final weekend (October 22 to 24).

*The field hockey schedule, as with all OUA schedules for the 2021-22 season, remains subject to change based on any pertinent updates from the provincial government, public health authorities, and provincial sport organizations. Game-specific adjustments to dates/times may also be made by OUA members over the summer months.
