Banner Season: Brock bests the OUA wrestling contingent once again to claim continued success on the mats

Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. (via the Algoma Thunderbirds) - On Saturday, February 8th, 2025, the Brock Wrestling teams celebrated another successful OUA Championship.

“It means a lot to the kids,” states Marty Calder, Head Coach. “There are still things to improve on, as we know, and we are hosting National Championships. But really, the day was really exciting for us and I’m happy for the team.”

Marty Calder and Dave Collie were also recognized as Men's and Women's Coaches of the Year. Brock student-athlete Zakir Ibrahimkheil was recognized as the Male Rookie of the Year.

This is the second year in a row Algoma has hosted the event. With Lilah Fraser securing bronze at 83kg and Nevaeh Pine winning the Female Community Service Award, the Thunderbirds have some great achievements to celebrate.

Athletes will compete at the U SPORTS Championships on Feb. 28 - Mar. 1 at Brock University.
