TEAMS DETERMINED FOR OUA CHAMPIONSHIP
The defending champion Queen's Golden Gaels took the right steps in their attempt to secure their second straight OUA men's curling title with a 6-1 regular season record. The only loss for the Gaels this season came at the hands of the Toronto Varsity Blues, a squad that failed to qualify for the OUA Championship bonspiel. Queen's finished the season first, with Brock finishing second with a 5-2 record. The Badgers fell to Queen's as well as Trent, who finished third in the regular season with a 4-3 record. The Waterloo Warriors round off the top four, as they snuck in on the tie-breaker over Toronto and Western.
On the women's side, Laurier, Waterloo and Queen's all finished with identical 5-2 records and will head into the championship tournament ranked first, second and third respectively due to tie-breakers. The Golden Hawks, who started the season with two losses, have won their last five to finish atop of the OUA standings. Western finished fourth, ahead of the defending champion Brock Badgers. Both schools at 4-3 records, with the Mustangs advancing with the tie-breaker.
The OUA curling championships take place February 19-20th at the University of Toronto.
