Mustangs beat Alberta and Guelph at Western Tri Meet
LONDON, Ont. – The Western Mustangs swimming teams hosted the University of Alberta and the University of Guelph at the Western Tri Meet on Sunday, November 16, in the Western Sports and Recreation Center pool, finishing first on the women's side, second on the men's side, and first overall. The meet also saw 10 Mustangs swimmers qualified for the CIS Championships, which will be hosted by the University of Victoria in February, 2015.
LONDON, Ont. – The Western Mustangs swimming teams hosted the University of Alberta and the University of Guelph at the Western Tri Meet on Sunday, November 16, in the Western Sports and Recreation Center pool, finishing first on the women's side, second on the men's side, and first overall. The meet also saw 10 Mustangs swimmers qualified for the CIS Championships, which will be hosted by the University of Victoria in February, 2015.
Western's teams finished with a combined 574 points to take first at the meet, trailed closely by University of Alberta with 506, and University of Guelph with a total of 256.
The Mustangs' women's team dominated the pool to finish with 325 points, followed by Alberta Pandas at 204, and Guelph Gryphon's with just 131 points.Toronto native, Paulina Bond, has been a top performer for the Mustangs so far this season, as she's put up some impressive early-season times and earned four gold medals at last weekend's meet. Teammate Emma Sproule is also off to a good start, finishing with four gold medals at the meet.
On the men's side, the Alberta Golden Bears took first place with 302 points, followed by the Western Mustangs in second place with 249 points, and the Guelph Grypons taking third at 125 points.
