MUSTANGS SET TO PAINT DOWNTOWN PURPLE
The University of Western Ontario and Global Spectrum Facility Management are pleased to announce that the Western Mustangs Varsity Hockey Team will host the Lakehead University Thunderwolves at the John Labatt Centre Saturday, January 29 at 7:35 p.m.
The Mustangs (11-2-0-1) ranked #7 in Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) action this season will face off against the Thunderwolves (10-2-0-0), who are currently ranked #5 in the CIS.
This will be the first CIS game ever played at the John Labatt Centre and will feature two of the top teams, not only in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA), but also in Canada.
The game will also feature four former London Knights in Mustangs Acting Team Captain Ryan Hare and forwards Jason Davies and Ryan Held. The Thunderwolves feature former Knights' Captain Joel Scherban.
"To have two of the best teams in the OUA compete at the John Labatt Centre adds to the list of marquee events at the facility," stated John Labatt Centre General Manager Brian Ohl. "It's a thrill to be a part of history in bringing the Mustangs to downtown London."
Michael Lysko, Director of Sports and Recreation Services at Western echoed OHL sentiments stating "\"We are very excited about bringing the game to downtown London and providing an opportunity to hockey fans to see the Mustangs here at the John Labatt Centre. This initiative supports two of our key objectives ... to strengthen the relationship between Western and the London community and to build the awareness of the Mustangs brand.\"
Tickets for the Saturday, January 29 game are $ 7 and $ 3 (Western students and children under-12) and will go on sale Saturday, January 15 at 8:00 a.m. at The University of Western Ontario via the Mustang Ticket Line at 1 (519) 661-4077 or in person at Campus Recreation Membership Services (lower level of University Community Centre).
As of Monday, January 17, tickets will also be available at the John Labatt Centre Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations, on-line at www.ticketmaster.ca or charge by phone at 1 (519) 488-1012.
