OUA W-VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: NO. 10 LIONS CONTINUE UNDEFEATED SEASON
Katie Mathews (Aurora, Ont.) was the Gaels' top scorer with 16 points on 10 kills, four aces and two blocks. Queen's regular-season leading scorer Natalie Gray (Oshawa, Ont.) produced eight kills, an ace and one block for eight points.
York's Thinesa Sriskandarajah (Scarborough, Ont.) had a game-high 17 points while setter Nadia Reider (Buenos Aires, Argentina) had 36 assists.
The Gaels move to 8-7 on the season and remain in third place in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) East division, two points ahead of the University of Toronto. The Varsity Blues did not play Friday.
York captures their 14th victory of the season sitting at a perfect 14-0 and first in OUA.
Queen's resumes action next Friday against the Windsor Lancers in Windsor, Ont. The Lancers are in seventh place in the OUA West division. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.

LAURIER 3, GUELPH 1
GUELPH, Ont. - The Guelph Gryphons women's volleyball team fell to the Laurier Golden Hawks on Friday 3-1 (24-26, 25-20, 24-26, 16-25) at the W.F. Mitchell Athletic Centre. The Gryphons fall to 8-7 on the season, while the Golden Hawks improve to 6-9.
The Gryphons got off to a slow start and trailed 6-8 at the first technical timeout. They picked up momentum and came back to within in one at the second technical timeout. Guelph took the lead 23-20 but lost momentum with serve receive errors costing the Gryphons the game as Laurier fought back and took the set 24-26.
Guelph came out strong in the second set leading to the first technical time out. Both teams battled point for point through the middle and things were all tied up at 19. Stacey Jones (Coquitlam, B.C.) came off the bench with aggressive consistent serving and the Gryphons took the second set 25-20.
In the third Guelph led to the first technical time out, with Claire Sandor (Waterloo, Ont.) making two huge middle stuff blocks along the way. Guelph still led at the second technical timeout by one, but Laurier kept it close tying things up at 19 all. Both teams fought point for point making for an exciting finish but a questionable line call gave Laurier the win 24-26.
Guelph looked discouraged coming out to a slow start in the fourth and trailed the entire game. Laurier picked up momentum and held it this time to take the fourth set 17-25 and the game. The Gryphons were led by Alexandra Taylor (Newmarket, Ont.) with nine kills, followed by Brook Lloyd (Whitby, Ont.) and Sandor both with eight.
Laurier's Teresa Wick (Moorefield, Ont.) had a game-high 12 kills, while teammate Tesca Andrew-Wasylik (Unionville, Ont.) contributed 21 digs.

WATERLOO, MCMASTER 2
HAMILTON, Ont. - The Waterloo Warriors escaped with a five-set marathon victory (25-21, 21-25, 22-25, 25-20, 17-15) on the road against the McMaster Marauders on Friday night.
Kate Flanagan (Burlington, Ont.) of the Warriors led the team with 17 kills and 18 digs. McMaster's Heidi Bench (St Catharines, Ont.) had a game-high 19 kills in a losing effort.
