Brock Hires Melnick as new Women's Volleyball Coach
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Brock University Director of Athletics Robert Hilson is pleased to announce Dale Melnick as the new women's volleyball head coach. Melnick replaces Lucas Hodgson who took over as the head coach at the University of Windsor.
"We are really pleased to have Dale as the new women's volleyball coach at Brock," said Hilson. "She brings both a strong coaching and playing experience to the program as well as a background of mentoring elite athletes and individuals."
"I am very grateful for this new coaching opportunity at Brock University, said Melnick. "With a lifetime of volleyball experience, I believe with my background as both a coach and an athlete and my ability to mentor individuals to strive for success, I will be able build the Badgers into a top volleyball program in the OUA."
Melnick returns to coaching after a 12-year hiatus. In the CIS coaching ranks she was the head coach at the University of Western Ontario in 1995-96 and worked as an assistant coach at the University of Guelph from 1996-99. She was also the head coach of the Region 3 Ontario Team in 1995.
As a university student-athlete, Melnick had great success capturing five conference titles. She began her university career at the University of Georgia where she was a member of two Southeastern Conference (SEC) Championship teams in 1985 and 1986. She returned to Canada and played at York University where she was part of the York dynasty in the early 90's capturing three OUA Championships in 1992, 1993 and 1994. She also played professional beach volleyball for 10 years from 1990-99 on both the national and international circuit all while coaching and mentoring high performance athletes.
Melnick holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Guelph and Bachelor of Arts from York University. She also has a Human Resources Certificate from Conestoga College.
