MCMASTER RECLAIMS OUA MEN'S RUGBY TITLE
In a rain soaked match, McMaster defeated Queen's 18-10. The game was very close from the start with the Marauders leading 13-10 into the final minutes of the game. The win was solidified when Mike Scholz (Oakville, Ont.) made a clever deke on a slippery mud covered field to run in a try with mere seconds left on the clock. A missed convert would make no difference as McMaster celebrated on the pitch with the Turner Trophy.
McMaster won back to back titles in 2005 and 2006, but finished fourth last year having to hand the title over to the Brock Badgers. Queen's picks up their second consecutive silver medal after falling 22-6 to Brock last season.
McMaster's Scholz was named Man of the Match.
The Western Mustangs took bronze with a convincing 28-8 win over last year's title champions. This is Western's second consecutive bronze medal after defeating McMaster 23-22 last year. The 2007 championship marked the first ever Turner Trophy for the Badgers.
Conor Trainer (Vancouver, B.C.) put up 15 points for the Mustangs with a hat trick of tries. He was named Man of the Match.
The OUA championship games were presented by Rugby Canada and Gilbert Canada Inc.
