CARLETON DRAWS TWICE AS REGULAR SEASON COMES TO A CLOSE
The Queen’s Golden Gaels, second in the East, completed the regular season on a high with a 3-2 win over the Waterloo Warriors Saturday and a 1-0 shut-out of the Laurier Golden Hawks the following day. Jeremy Armstrong scored twice in the victory over Waterloo, while Jared King netted the winner. Queen’s left it to the end against the Golden Hawks as striker Tyler Swan scored in the 89th minute to pull out the win. Goalkeeper Ostap Prokipchuk was credited with the clean sheet.
Eric Yung, Cameron Culbert and David Orlando all scored goals as the Nipissing Lakers won their third match of the season with a 3-0 decision over the Laurentian Voyageurs.
Goals were tough to come by for some teams Saturday. The Golden Hawks and Paladins, Brock Badgers and Ryerson Rams, and the Guelph Gryphons and McMaster Marauders all played to goalless draws. Sunday, Waterloo and RMC also drew 0-0.
The OUA playoffs begin Wednesday, October 26. RMC plays Laurier, Waterloo faces Queen’s, Nippising plays Guelph and McMaster goes against York in the opening round. Carleton, Western, Brock and Toronto all receive first-round byes.
