BROCK MEN'S ROWING WINS THIRD STRAIGHT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
The Brock men's team captured three golds, one silver and had one fourth place finish in total, winning their 4th CURC title in school history.
The men's coxed four of Derek Gosling, Jon Loek, Drew Scobie, Scott Taylor and coxie Stephanie Holland placed first overall. The men's pair of Jeff McGuffin and Ryan Schmidt also captured gold with Colm Gribbon capturing the Badgers third first place finish with gold medal performance in the men's single.
In the men's lightweight double Gribbon and Loek placed second overall for the silver, while the men's heavyweighjt eight made up of Schmidt, McGuffin, Taylor, Scobie, Eddy Sheppard, Greg Szybka, Jonathan Doyle, Scott Glover and coxie Holland placed fourth overall.
For the Brock women, the team's best finish came in the lightweight women's 4+ made up of Barb Szybka, Allison Carryer, Diana Aucoin, Ashley Small and cox Karlene Willmott as they placed fourth overall.
In the lightweight women's single Aucoin placed fifth overall. Placing sixth for the Badgers were Carryer in the women's single and Szybka and Courtney Davidson in the lightweight women's double.
The women's 8+ made up of Small, Davidson, Melanie Abbott, Jennifer MacDonald, Irene Costantini, Nancy Burgess, Aime Lopez-Auguilar, Kate Layard, and cox Willmott placed seventh overall. Also placing seventh was the women's pair of Burgess and Abbott.
