Laurier's Thomson named OUA Peak Performer

Needing a win to punch their ticket to the postseason, Laurier Golden Hawks 8th man Andrew Thomson (Pickering, Ont.) turned in his biggest performance of season on Friday against the Brock Badgers.
With the winner advancing to the playoffs, Thomson, a kinesiology and physical education student-athlete scored three tries in a 38-36 Laurier win.
The 6-foot-4, 225 pound 8th man crossed the try line early in the game to give the Golden Hawks the lead, before striking again in the second half to help seal the victory for Laurier.
Thomson and the Golden Hawks will open the playoffs on the road Wednesday night against the Western Mustangs in the OUA quarter-finals.
