Gaels snap up a 14-9 victory over Western
LONDON, Ont. (October 3, 2015) – It was a tight game this Saturday with the Gaels (4-1) managing to get ahead and grab the 14-9 win against the Western Mustangs (3-1).
The Gaels pushed ahead quickly in the first half, finding their way to the Western line and pushing the Mustangs back on their heels. At the nine minute mark Lucas Rumball (Toronto) put down the one and only try of the game for both teams, giving the Gaels an early 5-0 lead. The rest of the half was a struggle for both teams with Alex Colborne kicking true a penalty goal for the Gaels and Western responding with three penalty goals of their own from Mark Denton which pulled them into a tentative 9-8 lead at halftime.
The Gaels didn't let the Mustangs get comfortable and with another penalty kick, found themselves in an 11-9 lead.
