FOUR TIMES FOR LUMSDEN AS CIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Lumsden, a fourth-year running back and Geography student, is honoured after breaking two CIS records and one OUA conference mark in the Marauders 32-13 win over the Queen's Golden Gaels.
The Burlington, Ont. native rushed for 279 yards on 31 carries and scored two touchdowns to break two CIS and one OUA records this weekend as the sixth-ranked McMaster University Marauders (6-1) defeated the Queen's University Golden Gaels (2-5), 32-13.
The Geography student set a new CIS single season rushing record with 1,680 yards with one game remaining. Lumsden surpassed former Mount Allison star and current Montreal Alouette Eric Lapointe, who set the previous standard of 1,619 yards in 1996.
Lumsden also set a CIS career touchdown record tallying his 42nd and 43rd majors. He leapfrogged over Mike Bradley, the former University of Waterloo standout and current Edmonton Eskimo, who held the previous mark with 41 trips to the end zone.
Finally, the 2003 All-Canadian finished the day with 4,001 career rushing yards, eclipsing Bradley's OUA best of 3,733 yards gained over his five-year career.
Lumsden and the Marauders travel to the nation's capital on Saturday to take on the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees (5-2) in a battle for second place in the OUA.
