Athletically, Jennifer was named the OUA swimming rookie of the year for the 2009-10 season and was given the Award of Distinction at the 2012-13 OUA swimming championships, which is presented to graduating athletes for recognition of consistent medal results over their career.
What is your proudest academic achievement?
There is no specific moment but I am very proud of my academic career as a whole. I knew continuing this level of commitment throughout university would not be easy so I am very proud to have been able to pursue my passion in swimming without scarifying the quality of my academic endeavours.
What is your proudest athletic achievement?
Winning gold and breaking the OUA record in the 4x100 freestyle relay. We won by less than a tenth of a second so it was a really exciting race. I loved being able to celebrate with my amazing teammates. It was a perfect way to end my last OUAs.
What is your most memorable community related moment?
I really enjoy being able to help my community through my work at the food bank. I’ve been fortunate enough to interact with some of the people who have come in and get to know some of the other volunteers. They truly are some of the most genuine people I have ever met.
What woman has most influenced you, and why?
My mom is the one that got me into swimming. She is also the one that kept me in the sport when I really wanted to quit as a child. She has taught me early on how to be strong and the true meaning of dedication. I can’t thank her enough for everything she’s done for me.
What are your future plans?
To apply to medical school in the fall
