SSN CANADA TO BROADCAST OUA WOMEN'S FINAL FOUR
SSN Canada will provide free streaming of its broadcast coverage through its website (http://www.SSNCanada.ca) beginning with the first semi-final on Friday and continuing through the final point in the gold medal match on Saturday.
Veteran SSN Canada broadcaster John Bower will handle the play-by-play of the tournament, while former Olympian and current University of Toronto men's volleyball head coach Ed Drakich will provide the colour commentary.
"SSN Canada is pleased to be the exclusive home of the 2008 OUA women's volleyball Final Four," says SSN President Bengt Neathery. "We first partnered with the OUA to broadcast the 2005 women's basketball championship and since that time we have been working together to give elite university athletes the type of exposure they deserve."
This year's Final Four pits the Waterloo Warriors (15-5) against OUA regular season champions from the University of Toronto (18-2) in one semi-final (Friday, 6 pm), while the other match-up features the reigning champions from the University of Ottawa (16-4) taking on the 2008 west division regular season champion McMaster University Marauders (17-3) in a re-match of last year's gold-medal contest (Friday, 8 pm). The tournament concludes on Saturday with the bronze medal match at 4 pm, followed by the championship game at 6 pm.
The winner of the tournament will advance to the 2008 Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) championship February 29-March 1 in Fredericton, NB.
The Final Four tournament will be the third OUA championship that SSN Canada has broadcast this season including the 100th Yates Cup and OUA men's soccer final last November.
The company will also provide wall-to-wall coverage of the 2008 Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) women's ice hockey championship from Ottawa in March.
