OUA BY THE NUMBERS
2009 – The last year that the RMC Paladins women’s soccer team has swept a weekend series, after earning wins over the Laurentian Lady Vees and Nipissing Lakers this weekend. The Paladins were lead by Michelle Hamilton (Winnipeg, Man.) who scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Laurentian on Saturday and followed that up with a two-goal performance in 3-0 defeat of Nipissing on Sunday.
290 – The length in minutes of the current scoreless streak held by Queen’s Gaels goalkeeper Dylan Maxwell (Vancouver, B.C.). The third-year keeper has recorded three consecutive shutouts, for a season total of four, after blanking Nipissing and Laurentian over the weekend.
15 – The number of goals scored by Laurier Golden Hawks lacrosse player Shelby O’Ryan (Burlington, Ont.) through five games this season. The third-year midfielder scored eight goals and added an assist in guiding the Golden Hawks to a 2-0-1 record over in this weekend’s games which were held in Toronto.
146.5 – Yards per game accumulated by Western Mustangs running back Garret Sanvido (Vancouver, B.C.) through four games. This number, along with 586 total rushing yards and seven touchdowns, lead both the OUA and CIS. Sanvido rushed for 205 yards on Saturday as the No. 6 Mustangs knocked of the Windsor Lancers, 46-23.
0 – The number of sets lost by York Lions tennis player Kelsi Smith (Beeton, Ont.) as she went undefeated in six matches this weekend. The third-year biology student went 3-0 in singles matches and 3-0 in doubles competition to help the Lions to consecutive 5-2 wins over Montreal and Waterloo before narrowly falling 4-3 to Western.
11 – Runs batted in by Guelph Gryphons catcher Justin Interisano (Guelph, Ont.) in a 5-game span last week, helping the Gryphs go 4-1. Interisano also added three home runs last week to bring his season total to six. He currently leads the OUA in both home runs and runs batted in
4 – Consecutive goals scored by Ottawa Gee-Gees' striker Pilar Khoury (Ottawa, Ont.) in a 6-0 victory over the Trent Excalibur in Peterborough on Sunday. After Ottawa opened the scoring in the 14th minute, Khoury reeled off four straight markers to put the game out of reach. She now has seven goals on the season and sits alone in second place in OUA scoring.
29 – The number of seconds remaining on the clock when Waterloo Warriors defensive back Harrison Mair (Vancouver, B.C.) collected an interception at his own goal line. The turnover came as the host York Lions were marching down the field looking to add a go-ahead score late in the game. Mair’s interception, his second of the contest, preserved the Waterloo win by a final score of 23-22.
