The reigning CIS women's champions suffered their first loss on Friday, as several contenders pulled away from the pack on day two of the OUA Curling Championships.
Carleton's late comeback attempt fell just short against the Brock Badgers in the day's first draw, as they fell to 3-1 and third position in the Women's A pool. The Badgers, meanwhile, share the pool lead at 4-0 with the similarly undefeated Toronto Varsity Blues after laying an 8-2 beating on the Queen's Gaels in the last draw.
The Guelph Gryphons hold sole possession of the top spot in the Women's B pool, after maintaining their perfect record at 3-0 with a lopsided 7-1 defeat of the host Marauders.
Meanwhile on the men's side, the UOIT Ridgebacks hold the uncontested lead in Pool B after a pair of high-scoring wins on Friday, defeating Carleton 9-7 and Toronto 9-4. They're joined in the upper echelon by a pair of undefeated teams in the A Pool, the Laurier Golden Hawks and Brock Badgers.
Laurier improved to 4-0 with a pair of wins over Waterloo and McMaster, while Brock dealt an 8-2 loss to the Laurentian Voyageurs and defeated Trent 9-4.
The host Marauders are winless at 0-4 on the men's side, while the women fell to 1-3 on Friday.
Day three of the OUA Championships gets underway at 8:30 a.m. with Draw 8.
