OTTAWA AND TORONTO MOVE ON
Five of the seven Ottawa Gee-Gees who saw the floor Saturday night scored in double figures, propelling Ottawa to a 77-65 win over the Laurentian Voyageurs in OUA East quarter-final action. Jermaine Campbell's 18 points led the way, with Alex McLeod adding 16 points. For the Voyageurs, Ben Palmer was the only one to reach double digits, scoring 16 in the loss. Ottawa now moves on to the OUA East semi-final where they will meet last year's CIS semi-finalist, the York Lions.
Toronto Varsity Blue rookie head coach Mike Katz won his first OUA playoff game Saturday as the Blues upset the Queen's Golden Gaels, 56-49. Kenny Hilborn's game-high 15 points led the Blues, as teammate Mike Williams pulled down 11 rebounds. Kyle McCleery scored 13 for the Gaels. Next for the Blues is a trip to the top-ranked team in Canada, the undefeated Carleton Ravens.
