W-SOCCER ROUNDUP: Laurier still undefeated after 5 games
McMaster Marauders @ Guelph Gryphons
One goal from fifth year midfielder Cheryl Druchok (Palgrove, Ont.) was all it took today in McMaster’s game against the Gryphons to walk away from Alumni Field in Guelph with a 1-0 win.
Druchok’s second goal of the season came at 3:34 in the first half of the game. She recorded her first goal of 2010 against Western in game one, which also resulted in a 1-0 McMaster win.
Marauder goaltender Jocelyn Wilkins (London, Ont.) kept three shots out of the net in the first half and two in the second to aid her team in the win.
The Marauders improve to 3-1-1 with the win while Guelph drops to 1-2-2. McMaster currently sits second in the OUA West with ten points. Queen’s leads the league with 15 points from their 5-1 record.

Ryerson Rams @ Toronto Varsity Blues
Up against a previously CIS ranked University of Toronto squad, the Ryerson women's soccer team earned a point with a 0-0 tie at Varsity Centre on Sunday.
The Rams [0-1-4] are content with a point against the Varsity Blues [3-1-2], ultimately fairing better than previous Blues opponents, but concede that there were missed opportunities.
Mohammadi added that while the Rams were pinned down for the last twenty minutes, the defense kept its composure, holding on for Ryerson's fourth tie.
Shannon Cosgrove, a first-year right-winger, did go for an x-ray after the game according to Mohammadi after hitting her head on the ground. The injury does not appear to be serious, as the Pickering, Ont., native is thought to have a mild concussion.
Despite being cross-town rivals, both teams played a clean game with no cards being issued.

Laurier Golden Hawks @ Brock Badgers
The no. 7 nationally ranked Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks (5-0-0) stretched their winning streak to five games with a 3-1 win over the Brock Badgers (0-2-1) and a 2-1 victory over the York Lions (1-3-0).
In the first match, Julia Marchese (Oakville, Ont.) opened the scoring with a goal at the 35 minute mark. The Badgers would answer just two minutes later with Larissa Bruzzese (Welland, Ont.) beating Tristin Vogel (Collingwood, Ont.) for her first goal of the season. Just before the end of the half, Marchese would net her second of the match to give the Golden Hawks a 2-1 lead at halftime. Ali McKee (Bracebridge, Ont.) would add an insurance marker in the 61st minute to give the purple and gold their fourth win of the year.
The second match heralded the return of national team player, Alyssa Lagonia (Kitchener, Ont.) to the purple and gold. The business major marked her return with a goal in the 87th minute for the Hawks. Midfielder Becca Isaacs (London, Ont.) notched the other marker for Laurier in the74th minute, while Nicole Markowitz (Toronto, Ont.) opened the scoring for the Lions just four minutes into the match..

Ottawa Gee-Gee’s @ Laurentian Voyageurs
The talk of an undefeated season is now over. The Gee-Gees were shutout 2-0 against the Laurentian Voyageurs in Sunday’s OUA women’s soccer action. This marks uOttawa’s first loss of the season, and may serve as a timely reality check for the No. 6 ranked Gee-Gees going into this weekend.
Laurentian capitalized on some early offensive pressure, and a few lucky breaks to score two quick goals in the first half. The Gee-Gees attempted a comeback in the second half, but it was still too little to late for the garnet and grey to surmount any sort of comeback. Both goals for Laurentian were scored by third-year mid-fielder Leanne Adams, Mississauga, Ont.
It is fair to say that Johnson is less concerned with this being their first loss the season; and would rather like to see his team learn from their mistakes to be able to bounce back next weekend.
This marked the Gee-Gees second game in two days, after defeating the Nipissing Lakers yesterday by a score of 2-1.

Queen’s Gaels @ Trent Excalibur
Jacqueline Tessier, of Winnipeg, scored a hat trick to lead the No. 3 Queen's Gaels to a 4-0 victory over the Trent Excalibur in Peterborough Saturday afternoon. Tessier now has 10 goals to lead the country in scoring.
Tessier demonstrated her offensive prowess early in the game, scoring her first two goals midway through the first half. With Tessier's goals the Gaels had a 2-0 lead at half time.
She completed her hat trick in the second half putting another ball past the Excalibur keeper.
Within minutes Julia Cory, of Vancouver B.C., scored to put the final score at 4-0 for the Gaels.
Queen's record now sits at 5-1 and they are the top team in the OUA with 15 points. Ottawa trails Queen's by five points for the OUA East lead while Laurier has 12 points to lead the OUA West Division.

Western Mustangs @ Windsor Lancers
Marianne Wright propelled the Windsor Lancer women’s soccer to a 1-0 win over the Western Mustangs Sunday afternoon on Alumni Field.
Wright’s late goal in the 89th minute came from a shot inside the 18-yard box into the bottom corner of the net to beat Western keeper Melanie Oberholzer and give the Lancers the win.
With the win the Lancers remain undefeated with a 2-0-2 record and sit in third place in the OUA West.
The Lancers dominated the Mustangs throughout the first half, maintaining ball possession and using a strong defense to prevent Western from registering a single shot.
The Lancers had a number of chances to get on the board yet failed to find the net, as the score remained tied at zero heading into the break.
The second half became much more intense as the Lancers and Mustangs battled back and forth trying to gain possession of the ball. Windsor had a number of quality scoring opportunities from Heather Daichendt, Candace Garrod, and Meresa Brownlie but could not convert the ball into the net.
With just a few minutes remaining, Windsor keeper Rebecca Singer was forced to make a great save on a Western striker to keep her team in the game, and help the Lancers to a 1-0 victory just a few minutes later.
Singer registered three saves for the Lancers for her second straight shut-out, while Oberholzer made 8 saves for the Mustangs.
