FANTUZ BOBBLEHEADS TO BE GIVEN AWAY
LONDON, ONT. - The Western Mustangs are pleased to announce that the first 1,000 fans in attendance with a ticket for the Mustang Football game on Saturday, October 22 versus the Queen's Golden Gaels will receive an Andy Fantuz Bobblehead.
Kick off for the game at TD Waterhouse Stadium is 2:00 p.m.
Fantuz, the all-time Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) and Ontario University Athletics (OUA) leader in career receiving yards and touchdown receptions, needs just three receptions Saturday to become the career leader in that category, as well.
"It's really exciting," says Fantuz. "I have had four incredible years at Western and this will be a great keepsake to remind me of those years when I am old and grey - something to show my kids and my grandkids."
The fourth-year receiver was named OUA athlete of the week on October 17 and the CIS defensive player of the week on October 18 after collecting four receptions, 72 yards, a touchdown and perhaps, most impressively, three interceptions against the Ottawa Gee Gees on October 15.
The Chatham native enters Saturday's game with career totals of 184 receptions, 4012 yards and 40 touchdown receptions.
His all-time long reception was 80 yards, which he received on October 19, 2002 against the Ottawa Gee Gees. That day, Fantuz also established his career single-game high for receptions with 11. One week earlier, during a campaign that saw him win the CIS and OUA rookie of the year, Fantuz amassed 257 yards versus the Guelph Gryphons.
