RMC EARNS DRAW WITH ROSS'S LATE STRIKE
Valerie May and Courtney Luscombe tallied to give the visitors the lead with 25 minutes to play. But the Paladins stayed in the game until the very end, capitalizing late in the match. Katie Marasco sent the ball into the penalty area and after a touch from second-year Marsalie MacKenzie, Ross (pictured) came in late to score her first of the season just priot to the final whistle of the match.
After a scoreless first half, RMC took the lead in the 59th minute of play. Ross played a cross to the far post which Marasco ran onto and beat the Gee-Gees goalkeeper with a calm finish. That goal seemed to wake the visiting Gee-Gees, as they countered for two quick goals.
The 2-2 tie marks the first time RMC has taken a point from the University of Ottawa in their three years of OUA competition. Luscombe and Marasco were selected as game MVPs for their respective teams.
RMC will next travel to Ottawa this Sunday, September 10 for a rematch versus the Gee-Gees. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 pm at the University of Ottawa Sports Complex.
