WILKERD AND WIGGER COME UP BIG FOR LAURIER
RMC did begin the week with a 3-2 win over the Waterloo Warriors Friday. Peter Hanly led all players with 13 kills. The Ryerson Rams improved to 3-0 on the season after defeating the host Toronto Varsity Blues 3-1 Saturday. Ryerson started strong with 25-16 victory in the first game and then wrapped up the third and fourth games 25-21 and 25-20 to remain undefeated. Ryan Vandenburg had a match-high 25 kills for Ryerson, while Brendan peel led Toronto with kills.
The Western Mustangs also improved to 3-0 with a pair of 3-1 wins over the York Lions Saturday and the McMaster Marauders Sunday. Against York, Dan Miller and Alexander Jerome each had 12 kills and three blocks. Mark Sidler led the way with 14 digs. Four Mustangs had double-figure kills in the match with the Marauders. Western dropped the first game 23-25 but won the next three 25-23, 25-14 and 27-25 to take the match. Sidler had a 10 digs for the Mustangs. Peter Hrkal had 15 kills for McMaster. The Marauders began the week with a 3-1 win over the Windsor Lancers Saturday.
In other OUA action, Queen’s defeated Waterloo 3-0 Saturday and Windsor got by York 3-1 Sunday. Dave Quinn was unstoppable as he registered a match-best 26 kills for the victorious Lancers. Windsor was hungry for the win, reflected by three players with double-digit dig totals. Paul Podstawka had 13 kills for the Lions.
