Lancer Volleyball adds 2009 AUS Rookie of the Year for 2011-2012 season
Hickman, a 6’7” middle blocker from St. John’s Newfoundland, is a transfer student athlete from Memorial University. In his freshman year in CIS play within Atlantic University Sport (AUS), Hickman was awarded the prestigious AUS Rookie of the Year, and was named to the 2008-09 CIS All Rookie team. He finished the season second overall in blocking with 54 total blocks, and 10th overall in total points with 103.5.
In his sophomore season, Hickman added to his accomplishments by increasing his kill percentage to .212, ranking him ninth in overall conference play. He continued his blocking average with 51 total blocks (including 20 solo’s) to be ranked fourth overall, and moved up his overall ranking to ninth with 129 total points.
“Having Scott will add to our crusade to be the best in Canada,” said associate head coach Shawn Lippert. "His size, speed and maturity will put up a big block that other teams will have a hard time dealing with."
With a majority of the Lancers current roster returning next season, the addition of Hickman will make the Lancers very deep on the bench.
On a recent trip to Windsor, Hickman was extremely impressed with the campus and St. Denis Centre. “Windsor's facilities are amazing. The tour made me feel like home and the team was very inviting,” said Hickman. “The school is exactly what I was looking for, and I am very excited to start next fall."
Hickman will be studying Sports Management in the Faculty of Human Kinetics.
