Waterloo, 1 @ Windsor, 3 Box Score
The Lancer men’s volleyball team beat Waterloo 3-1 (25-19, 19-25, 25-20, 25-19) in Windsor on Friday.
The Lancer’s took control in the first set, breezing past both technicals and taking a sizable lead. Unable to keep up with the speed and hitting of the Lancers, Waterloo gave away the first set to Windsor 25-19.
Play was tight in the second set, with each team taking a technical with only a narrow lead. After taking the second technical time out, the Warriors gained momentum and pulled ahead, winning the second set 25-19.
The third set carried on like the second, with neither team able to lead by more than one for long. The Lancers were able to take both technicals, gaining a lead after the second. After the scare of a Waterloo come back late in the set, the Lancers finished it 25-20 with a Ryan Le kill.
In the fourth set the Warriors simply couldn’t contend with the Lancer’s powerful offence and blocking. The Lancers won the final set 25-19.
Harrison Oake had 16 kills to lead the Lancers, while Kyle Williamson contributed 12. Will Alexander and Adam Prieur each had 23 and 18 sets respectively.

Laurier, 0 @ Western, 3
The Western Mustangs defeated the Laurier Golden Hawks 3-0 Friday night at Alumni Hall in the first of two games this weekend.
Set scores were 25-14, 25-22 and 25-20.
The first set was all blocks for Western. Leading 8-4 at the first technical timeout, Laurier just couldn’t find a spot to put the ball inside the lines. By the second technical timeout, Western led 16-7. Consistent hitting from Garrett May combined with blocks from Sean McKay and Mathieu Poulin allowed Western to take the first set 25-14.
The second set saw the Mustangs and Goldenhawks go point for point right up until the first technical timeout. Reid Halpenny and Poulin came out swinging and Payton Holliss was able to contribute in a big way as he was subbed in near the end of the set. Despite being outplayed by Laurier in the second set, it was ultimately May’s crosscourt hit that put the Mustangs ahead 2-0 with a set score of 25-17.
Great rallies and smart plays in the third set resulted in a lot of back and forth. Laurier put up some big blocks, but Western was the better team. Phil James was stellar offensively finding the holes on Laurier’s court. May and Poulin each had four kills in Western’s 31 total attacks in the third set. The Mustangs took the third and final set 25-20.
Players of the game were McKay for the Mustangs and middle hitter Kevin Rowe for the Golden Hawks.

Toronto, 1 @ McMaster, 3 Box Score
The McMaster men's volleyball team continued their winning streak at Burridge Gymnasium Friday night over the Toronto Varsity Blues. The last regular season game at home for the Marauders finished in four sets (25-18, 25-10, 23-25, 25-16) as the men improved their conference record to 14-3.
The first set was tight as the Blues and the Marauders battled hard for the lead. McMaster finally pulled away after the second technical timeout thanks to Jori Mantha's (Vanier, Ont.) killer serves and the Marauder's took the first set 25-18. In the second, Tyler Santoni (Kingston, Ont.) over powered the Blues as hie and his teammates pulled away with a massive lead.
The third set proved to be quite the challenge as Toronto came out flying thanks to the likes of Jake Dysselhof (Mississauga, Ont.) and Matt Vares (Scarborough, Ont.). The two helped lead the Blues to their first and only set win of the night coming down to two points for the 25-23 win.
In the fourth, the Marauders got down to business and finished off the Blues, 25-16. McMaster had four players with double digit points on the night including Santoni with 15 kills, two blocks and an ace. Tyson Alexander (Shanty Bay, Ont.) and Shayne Petrusma (Burlington, Ont.) both recorded 13 points.
Jake Dysselhof had 12 points on the night and Matthew Vares had another 13 for Toronto.
