GUELPH TO TAKE ON WESTERN IN OUA FINAL

OUA playoff action began with two quarter-finals Wednesday and semi-finals Saturday. The Western Mustangs didn’t miss a beat from the regular season as they ran past the Waterloo Warriors 52-0 in one semi-final match-up, earning a spot in the gold medal match. Barbara Mervin scored five of Western’s nine tries in another dominating Western performance.

The Mustangs will meet up with the Guelph Gryphons in the final Sunday, October 29. Guelph, which only has a single loss on the season, against Western, beat the Brock Badgers 7-0 in Guelph Sunday. Third-year fly-half Meaghan Howat had the only try of the match, while Michelle Austin added the conversion.

Brock had advanced to the semis with a 12-7 win over Laurier Wednesday. Waterloo had earned the right to play Western with a 10-7 victory over the Queen’s Golden Gaels. The badgers and Warriors will meet in the bronze medal match Sunday.
