WESTERN WINS TWICE TO GO 6-0
Meghan O’Doherty had a match-high 15 kills as the York Lions defeated the Waterloo Warriors 3-1 Thursday. Antonia Stathakos had 11 digs for the Lions, who also defeated the Laurier Golden Hawks 3-0 Saturday. York’s Elizeb Salas-Chavez led all players with 13 kills against Laurier. The Lions (3-2) comfortably won the match, taking the three straight games by scores of 25-19, 25-20 and 25-18.
The McMaster Marauders improved to 5-1 on the year with two 3-0 victories over the Queen’s Golden Gaels Saturday and the RMC Paladins Sunday. McMaster dominated Queen’s throughout the three games, winning 25-13, 25-16 and 25-14 in the third. The Marauders had 32 total kills in the match. The Paladins didn’t fair much better, posting no more than 16 points in the three games. Melonie Allin led the Marauders with eight kills, while Linda Zelek had 11 digs.
The Guelph Gryphons began their week with a 3-1 win over RMC Saturday, led by Kendall Milne’s match-high 17 kills. The win was Guelph’s first of the season but the joy didn’t last long as they lost to Queen’s 3-1 the following day. Fourth-year Nepean, On native Amanda Digel was a standout for the Golden Gaels, recording team hishs in both kills (12) and digs (10). Milne had another 14 kills for Guelph.
