LAMEY HELPS GEE-GEES TO A PAIR OF WINS
The Warriors were 1-1 on the week, defeating the Guelph Gryphons 3-1 Wednesday. Gabriella Lesniak led the way with nine kills for Waterloo, while Jara Brunt racked up 26 assists. Kendall Milne had 15 kills for the Gryphons.
Toronto got 11 kills from Melinda Lee and 17 assists from Asya Danilova in a 3-0 win over the York Lions Friday at York. Toronto took the third set 25-15 to remain in first place in the OUA with a solid 10-1 record. In other action Friday, McMaster needed five sets to defeat the Laurier Golden Hawks 3-2. Sarah Masterton and Verena McCrae had 11 kills each for the Maruders, while Melonie Allin added 10 more. Laurier had 63 team kills, including 17 from Danielle Walker but couldn’t generate enough offense to beat McMaster.
The Windsor Lancers won both of their matches this week in convincing fashion, defeating the Gryphons 3-0 Saturday and the Brock Badgers 3-0 Sunday. Brianna Binder had a combined 21 kills for Windsor on the weekend, including 11 in the win over Brock. The Badgers also lost 3-0 to the Western Mustangs Saturday. Melissa Mann led the Mustangs with 11 kills, while Lauren Cosentino had 26 assists and 11 digs.
