LAURIER IS PERFECT ON THE WEEK

The Laurier Golden Hawks didn't drop a game all week as they beat both the Guelph Gryphons and the powerhouse McMaster Marauders 3-0 this week. Danielle Walker had 10 kills and Laura Horner had 22 assists to lead the Hawks over the Gryphons. Laurier took the first two games 25-26 and then finished off Guelph 25-20 in the third and deciding game. The Hawks maintained that momentum against McMaster, which had just come off of a 3-0 victory over Waterloo Wednesday. Walkker had 14 more kills in the match, while Horner again led with 34 assists. Melissa St. Amant had a team-high 10 gigs for Laurier. Carly Welch was a force for the Marauders with 17 kills and 18 points in total. The wins improve Laurier's record to 7-4 in the West division through 11 matches.

Undefeated Western had just one match on the week, as they handled the Warriors 3-0. Western won the games by scores of 25-21, 25-19 an 25-18, with Melissa Mann leading all players with 10 kills. Lauren Cosentino had 27 assists for the Mustangs, while Laura Vanderlee had 26 for the Warriors. Western leads the West with an 11-0 record.

The Lakehead Thunderwolves manufactured two impressive victories over the Queen's Golden Gaels this week, beginning with a 3-1 victory Saturday in Thunder Bay. Erin Weir had 47 assists for the Wolves in the match, while Melissa Merilainen had 17 kills. Ashley Baer 11 kills the following day as Lakehead won 3-0.

The East-leading Toronto Varsity Blues tightened their grip on first place with back-to-back 3-0 victories over the Brock Badgers and the York Lions Sunday. Kila Miguel had 11 kills for the Blues in the win over Brock, while Asya Danilova recorded 19 assists. Danilova was credited with 27 kills in the win over York.

In other action around the OUA, the Golden Gaels beat RMC 3-0 Wednesday. Saturday, the Windsor Lancers beat Guelph 3-0 and the Ottawa Gee-Gees defeated Brock 3-1.
