VOLLEYBALL SEASON SERVED UP

Guelph Gryphons opened the 2004-05 OUA men's volleyball season with a 3 - 0 victory Saturday October 16th at the University of Waterloo.

Set scores were 25-23,25-29,27-25 in the first league match of the season.

League play continues Wednesday October 20th with McMaster at Guelph, Waterloo at Laurier, and York at Western.

In the first set of the Waterloo match, stepped out from a 7-7 tie to lead 11-7 behind effective serving from David Horebnberg ( 3rd yr, Stratford St. Michael). Waterloo styed close and took the lead at 22-21 rallied to 24-22 on 2 effective serves from Ryan Carter, then traded side-outs to win 25-23.

Waterloo took and early 3-0 lead on Brian Forrest's serves but Guelph cameback to 8-7 and 16-11 at the technical timeouts before closing out the set.

Waterloo went ahead early again , 8-4 at the first technical timeout, but Guelph fought back to lead 18-15, scoring 4 and 3 points with back-to-back servers Horenberg and Mike Bancroft (1st yr,Stratford St. Michael). Guelph then finshed of the match with the 27-25 win
