QUEEN'S REMAINS UNDEFEATED AT HOME
Guelph 1, Queen's 3
The Queen's Golden Gaels men's volleyball team remains undefeated at home with wins over McMaster and Guelph. Back to back victories at home have advanced the Golden Gaels to an 8-4 OUA league record; good enough to bring them into 4th place tie with the Western Mustangs. The Gaels defeated the second place McMaster Marauders 27-25, 25-19 & 25-23, and the seventh place Gryphons 25-16, 25-19, 16-25, 25-19. Leading the Gaels over the Marauders were Dan McCrae with 13 kills and Justin Kitney with 12. For the Marauders it was Peter Hrkal with 10 kills. Sunday, the Gaels were led by Kitney and Luke Lichty, each with 9 kills. Leading the Gryphons, and all players, was Jordan Reynolds with 14. Top defensive numbers went to Libero Steve Willis, with 6 digs each match.
RMC 0, Guelph 3
Guelph Gryphons split weekend, taking a loss from the Queen's Golden Gales while capturing a win from the RMC Paladines. Jordan Reynolds had 14 kills and one ace to lead the Gryphons. Matt Peters added 11 kills, 1 ace and 2 blocks. Dave Horenberg had 4 kills, 2 aces, and 2 blocks. Paladins Mathieu Lorrain had 9 kills and 6 digs while Reid Wuntke added 8 kills and 2 blocks.
RMC 0, McMaster 3
The McMaster Marauders split in this weekends play. Loosing to the Queen's Golden Gaels made the Marauders reassess their playing strategy. Adam Hrkal led the Marauders with 13 kills and Brent Carter added 10 kills with 8 digs. Veteran setter Sean Panchal recorded 36 assists to their victory. Paladins front leader was once again Reid Wuntke with 9 kills and three digs, while Jonathan Lucas added 21 assists.
Toronto 1, York 3
The York Lions were hosts to the Toronto Varsity Blues in this weekends match-up. Blues Brendan Peel had a solid performance tallying 16 kills and 6 digs while second year setter James Mackay had terrific performance adding 41 assists. The Blues performance was commendable but did not measure-up to the perfect streak of the York Lions. Paul Podstawka led his team with 16 kills and Jason Kinoshita added 37 assists to the teams win. This victory keeps the Lions first in the standings with a perfect record of 11-0.
Ryerson 3, Waterloo 0
The Ryerson Rams were hosts to the Waterloo Warriors. The Rams put on a flawless effort taking three straight sets. Front leader for the Warriors was Taylor Hall with 7 kills but was no match-up for Rams Ryan Vandenburg with 13 kills and Anton Hauser's 8 kills and 6 digs. Gregory Marszalek added 27 assists and two crucial kills to the win.
Windsor 0, Western 3
The Western Mustangs were looking for a big win against the Windsor Lancers to help them clinch a spot in the OUA playoffs. The Mustangs were led by fifth year Peter Sidler who contributed 10 kills, Blake Curtis added 8 kills while freshman setter Andrew Hinchey recorded 31 assists for the victory. Leading the Windsor Lancers was Dave Quinn with 8 kills, and Jon Harris with 22 assists.
