W-HOCKEY ROUNDUP: Brock, Laurier earn mid-week wins.
TORONTO- The goalless drought for the Ryerson Rams women's hockey team has hit 209:23, as they failed to scored Thursday night in a 2-0 loss against the Brock Badgers. The OUA regular season game was played on Mattamy Home Ice at the Mattamy Athletic Centre at the Gardens.
Emily Kelly was the difference between the pipes for the Badgers (3-12-1), recording 32 saves for the shutout. Kelly's performance was highlighted by a great save in the second period against Rams forward Emily Rose Galliani Pecchia on a breakaway to keep the Badgers in the game.
With the loss, the Rams now fall to 2-13.
The Badgers started the scoring at 14:42 of the first period off a face-off where the puck took a bounce and went over Rams goaltender Dana Carson, who was starting her first game since coming off an upper-body injury.
Jaclyn Conacher pushed the lead to 2-0 five minutes into the third period after a nice passing play with defenceman Katie Phelan before shooting the puck past the glove of Carson.
A penalty filled third period with lots of powerplay opportunities for each team did not prove to be the difference, as the Badgers held on for the win.
Although the Rams losing streak is now pushed to 11 games, head coach Lisa Haley says her team is not about to give up, "It doesn't mean were going to quit at anytime. If I'm proud of anything, it's our work ethic and the commitment of the players to keep striving to be better," said Haley.
Going forward Haley points out a key for the Rams to work on, "I think we still need to work on our leadership, and I think we're aware of that. It's not one or two people carrying the team it should be the group of veterans that have that year of experience under their belt."
The Rams next take the ice on Saturday when they travel to Oshawa to face the University of Ontario Institute of Technology Ridgebacks (5-7-2).

Waterloo @ Laurier
Thanks to a strong defensive effort and some timely goal scoring, the No. 6 Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks women's hockey team (13-1-2) swept the season series from the Waterloo Warriors (4-10-2) with a 5-0 win on Thursday night at the Waterloo Recreation Complex.
The Hawks allowed the Warriors just 10 shots on netminder Kayla Brown of Lively, Ont., including only one in the opening 20 minutes, while scoring five times on 21 shots of their own.
Laurier opened the scoring 15 minutes into the first period when Caitlin Muirhead of Waterloo, Ont., netted her fourth goal of the season past Warriors starting goalie Rebecca Bouwhuis of Orillia, Ont., to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead.
Laura Brooker of Fergus, Ont., extended the lead to two just two minutes later when she scored her 10th goal of the season. The goal gave Brooker at least 10 goals in each of her first three seasons in the OUA.
Laurier continued to take advantage of their scoring opportunities in the second period when team captain Fiona Lester of Peterborough, Ont., fired home her fifth goal of the season to make it 3-0 after 40 minutes.
Brooker and Paula Lagamba of Toronto, with her first goal of the season, rounded out the scoring in the third period.
For Brown, she earned her second shutout of the season against the Warriors with her 10 save performance. Since losing the first start of her career, the rookie goaltender has won her last five starts, allowing just six goals during that stretch.
Asides from Brooker, rookie Robyn Degagne of North Bay, Ont., and Tammy Freiburger of Wingham, Ont., also had multi-point nights as they each registered two assists in the game.
Laurier will now close out the 2012 portion of their schedule on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Toronto to face the York Lions. Puck drop is set for 2 p.m.
NOTES: Brooker is now just three goals shy of reaching the 50 goal plateau for her career in just her third season...only three other Hawks have reached that mark with the last being Andrea Ironside back in 2010...Laurier wound up outscoring the Warriors 13-0 in the three games that they played each other this season...the victory propelled the Hawks back into first place in the OUA as they leap-frogged the idle Queen's Gaels by one point...the game also marked the end of the Hawks nine game homestand in which they posted a record of 7-0-2
