RMC also had trouble getting past Carleton as the Ravens blanked the Paladins 3-0. Diana Burmester, Hilary Pierce and Shannon Persi all scored for Carleton, while Angela Penfound recorded the shutout.
The Western Mustangs, backed by the two shutouts from goalie Jesse Kapitany, started the season 2-0. Kate Crowley scored in the 88th minute to lead the Mustangs over Waterloo. On Sunday, Heather Prange scored the Western winner against the Laurier Golden Hawks. The Hawks did pick up one win this weekend with a 3-2 win over the Windsor Lancers. Waterloo capitalized as well, defeating the Lancers 5-1 on Sunday.
Guelph squeaked by Ryerson 1-0 Saturday on Lyndsay Zeller's goal. Katie Stross recorded her first shutout of the year and only let one by Sunday as the Gryphons tied Brock 1-1. Zeller scored Guelph's markers, while Meaghan Lawrence scored for the Badgers. It was the second tie of the weekend for Brock, as they played to a scoreless draw Saturday against McMaster. McMaster did find the score sheet Sunday, defeating the visiting Ryerson Rams 3-0. Catalina Murillo, Laura Shoots and Martha Aristone each scored for the Marauders, while Natalie Fitzpatrick was awarded her first shutout.
In the North division, both York and Toronto recorded one win and one loss to start the season. Both teams played to scoreless draws against Laurentian, while defeating Nipissing 5-1 and 4-1 respectively.
