QUEEN�S HOSTS FINAL FOUR
The top-ranked Western Mustangs proved they will be a force to reckon with this upcoming weekend at the OUA women's soccer championships, hosted by Queen's University. The Mustangs ensured their place at the Final Four with a 2-1 win over the defending champion and eighth-ranked Ottawa Gee-Gees.
The Gaels, who have won two of the last three titles, will be looking to reclaim the OUA banner on home soil. Finishing second in the North division, Toronto surprised McMaster and Guelph for their spot in the Final Four. The North proved to be a strong division as Laurentian, who finished third in the North, also qualified for the Final Four.
SEMI-FINALS
TORONTO vs. QUEEN'S
The University of Toronto Varsity Blues advanced to the OUA Final Four by defeating the McMaster Marauders 2-0 in the opening round of the playoffs last Friday. Andrea Tristno posted the shutout, while Lauren Karst and Oriana Morra provided the offence as the Blues advanced to face the South Division champion Guelph Gryphons. The Blues and Gryphons played to a scoreless draw through regulation time and two overtime periods before heading to penalty kicks in their quarter-final where Toronto knocked off the team from the Royal City 4-2.
The Queen's Golden Gaels played just one game to advance to the Final Four, a 2-0 whitewash of the Carleton Ravens. Carrie Knall's goal in the 30th minute was all that the Gaels would need to advance to the championship tournament. Julia Wilkes added an insurance marker in the 86th minute to ensure the victory for the Gaels.
LAURENTIAN vs. WESTERN
The Laurentian Voyageurs pulled off a pair of upsets last week to get to the OUA Final Four. The Vees opened the post-season with a 3-1 victory over the Brock Badgers in St. Catharines on October 29. Kristy MacKenzie netted a pair of goals in the game to send Laurentian to the quarter-finals against the York Lions. After playing to a scoreless draw through overtime, the Vees outscored the Lions 3-2 in penalty kicks to advance to the Final Four. Jolene Fournier, Erin Wilkes and Lauren Duhaime each scored for Laurentian.

The Gee-Gees who ousted the Laurier Golden Hawks on Friday night were unable to repeat their upset of a year ago, as the Mustangs topped Ottawa 2-1. Sam Biggs and Kate Crowley scored in a winning cause for Western.
