OTTAWA DROPS FIRST GAME OF SEASON TO QUEEN�S
Queen's could not get by the Carleton Ravens however as the Ottawa school scored in the 75th minute to break the scoreless game open 1-0. Diana Burmester scored the game's lone goal as Angela Penfound was given the shutout. The Ravens also took a 4-0 win over RMC while in Kingston. Burmester netted another, while Penfound was credited with her second shutout of the weekend.
Ottawa was also able to defeat RMC 5-1. Dominik Bertrand and Ramata Coulibaly each recorded two goals for the Gee-Gees. Sarah Greenwood netted the Paladins lone marker.
It took six games, but the No. 3 Western Mustangs finally got scored upon this weekend in a 3-1 win over division-rivals, the Waterloo Warriors. Nicole Grinstead broke the defensive barrier of Jessy Kapitany in the loss. Cristina Bonasia scored twice for the Mustangs.
The Warriors were able to find more scoring Sunday as they blanked Trent 4-0. Jenna Jumani scored twice for Waterloo, with Kelly Ogten recording the shutout.
Nipissing secured their second victory of the year with a 3-1 win over the South division leading McMaster Marauders. Lauren Glover scored opened up scoring for the Lakers as she scored the game's first two goals. Julie Giardini scored for the Marauders before Bernadette Dec ensured the Lakers victory with her goal in the 80th minute.
Nipissing did drop a 3-0 decision to the Brock Badgers earlier in the weekend. Melanie Mol scored two goals just minutes apart to keep the Badger lead out of reach for the Lakers. Tiffany Scriver was awarded the shutout. Sunday, the Badgers were on the wrong side of another shutout as the Laurentian Voyageurs took the 1-0 win. Jolene Fournier scored the game's only goal in the 26th minute, as goalie Julia Boschetto was credited with the shutout.
Two games this weekend finished with a 0-0 draw, including West division rivals the Laurier and Windsor. Golden Hawk Marie Bryce and Lancer Dawn Boone were each awarded the shutout. Guelph - York and Laurentian - McMaster also finished in 0-0 draws.
