PLAYOFF PICTURE FORMED
Carleton fell further from the East race after being defeated 3-0 by Ottawa. Rookie Ramata Coulibaly scored twice to give the Gee-Gees the edge in the nation's capital. Coulibaly added three more in Ottawa's 9-0 win over Trent.
In the West division, No. 2 Western finished off their season undefeated with a 10-0-1 record. Jessy Kapitany recorded her nation leading 8th shutout as Western blanked Windsor 4-0 in the regular season finale. The Mustangs allowed only three goals in their 11 league games. Western receives a first round bye and will host quarter-final game on Sunday.
Waterloo and Laurier both tied for second place in the West. The Warriors won the tie-breaker with outscoring Laurier 3-1 in their two games this season. As a result, Waterloo will host the Carleton Ravens Friday afternoon. Laurier travels to the nation's capital to take on the Gee-Gees.
Guelph secured first place in the South division with a 2-0 win over Brock. Both teams were competing for first place and the final fight game down to the head-to-head match-up in the last game of the regular season. Rosie Dell and Emily Robson scored for the Gryphons, while Katie Stross was awarded the shutout. With the loss Brock hosts Laurentian Friday afternoon. McMaster took third place in the South and meet the Toronto Varsity Blues Friday. The Marauders kept the Rams from winning their only game of the year, breaking a 1-1 tie in the second half to secure the win.
In the North, York leapfrogged over Toronto for first place and a first round bye with a 2-1 win over the Varsity Blues. Lauren Karst scored her third of the week and first of the game for Toronto, but it wasn't enough to give the Blues the top spot in the North. Toronto hosts McMaster Friday afternoon. Despite a loss to North division rival Nipissing, the Laurentian Voyageurs took third place in the North, taking on Brock in first round playoff action Friday. The Lakers won their third of the season 2-1 against the Sudbury team, but it was too late to find a spot in the playoffs.
