BROCK, RMC, MCMASTER, QUEEN'S ADVANCE IN WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYOFFS
Brock University defeated the University of Western in penalty kicks at home Wednesday afternoon after a scoreless 120 minutes of play. With the victory, the Badgers advance to the OUA West Semi-finals and will travel to Toronto Saturday to take on the nationally ranked York University Lions.
RMC 2, Queen's 0
RMC and Queen's took to Richardson Stadium in OUA women's soccer first round of playoffs. The Paladins were making their debut in OUA post-season play, and were lifted by a great number of fans en route to a 2-0 victory. Heather McLellan (Ottawa, Ont.) scored the first RMC goal while Melanie Ross (Cochrane, AB) sealed the victory with the second goal.
McMaster 2, Waterloo 0
McMaster University defeated the University of Waterloo 2-0 in the OUA Playoffs this afternoon at McMaster University. McMaster goals were scored by Melissa Papp (Port Hope, Ont.) and Samatha Batten (Stouffville Ont.).
Carleton 2, Ryerson 0
Carleton University defeated the Ryerson University Rams, 2-0, at Keith Harris Stadium to move onto the OUA Quarterfinals on Saturday, October 27th. The Rams gave Carleton a great match staying close to the Ravens for most of the game. Carleton scored one goal in each half. The first goal came at the 12th minute of play when Aisha Stinson (Ottawa, Ont.) headed an excellent cross. Kate Shaughnessy (Ottawa, Ont.) earned another shutout this season. Heather McKimm (Oshawa, Ont.) put the game away at the 78th minute with the final goal of the match.
