YORK, LAURIER, OTTAWA AND CARLETON ADVANCE TO OUA FINAL FOUR
York University is heading to the OUA Final Four for the third time in as many years following a 1-0 shutout victory in its quarter-final against the Brock University Badgers Saturday afternoon at York Stadium. Ashley DePalma (Hamilton, Ont.) recorded the game's lone goal at 14:28 of the first half with strike from the edge of the box to give York a lead they would not relinquish. Goalkeeper Aurelea Gumiela (Oshawa, Ont.) secured the shutout.
Laurier 1, McMaster 0
The Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawks edged past McMaster University in Saturday's quarterfinal action. Hawk rookie Ali McKee (Bracebridge, Ont.) put away her eighth goal of the season and what would be the game winning goal. Goalkeeper Mal Woeller (Kinburn, Ont.) earned the shutout in the hard-fought contest.
Ottawa 6, RMC 0
The University of Ottawa Gee-Gees trounced the Royal Military College (RMC) Paladins on Saturday afternoon in front of a home crowd. Elise Desjardins (Cumberland, Ont.) scored two on the day after Courtney Luscombe (Ottawa, Ont.) opened the scoring for the home side. Maude Fillion Colin (Hull, Que.), Megan Bell (Halifax, NS) and Sarah d'Apollonia (Dartmouth, NS) added the three additional Ottawa goals.
Carleton 1, Toronto 0 (OT - PKs)
Carleton University overtook the University of Toronto in a shoot-out after 120 minutes of scoreless play. Both teams had chances to win the match in regulation time but goalkeepers, Kate Shaughnessy (Ottawa, Ont.) for Carleton and Mary Anne Barnes (Toronto, Ont.) for the Varsity Blues came up with saves to keep a clean sheet for their respective teams. Raven Shaughnessy made two saves in the penalty shoot-out, including one on the fifth shot, to win the game for Carleton and advance them to the semi-finals next weekend.
